transatlantic sessions

Venues are selling out fast, so now might be the moment to get your tickets for the Transatlantic Sessions 2012.

If you’re not familiar with the concept, assorted folk, roots and acoustic performers from both sides of the Atlantic spend an evening singing and playing together.

That’s it, pretty much – ‘the greatest back porch show ever.’

Except the evening has an air of improvisation, which can yield some unexpected results.

Fiddler Aly Bain from Scotland, and Nashville dobro legend Jerry Douglas are the musical masters of ceremonies.

And some of my favourite performers including Eddi Reader and Karen Matheson will be taking the mic, with stalwarts like Danny Thompson in the house band.

Eddi Reader with Tim O’Brien – Back To Earth

Karen Matheson – Crucan Na bPaiste

The tour starts at Celtic Connections in Glasgow on 2nd February 2012 and then takes in London, Dublin, Birmingham and Gateshead.
