One of the joys of Twitter is discovering how people that you once followed in the music press tweet avidly.

Tracey Thorn, one half of Everything But The Girl with her other half Ben Watt, is a great advert for Twitter.

By turns, humorous, philosophical, entertaining – and just by being herself.

So thanks to Twitter, I can tell you that this week she’s started recording a Christmas album in a new basement studio at home in North London.

This means she can pop upstairs mid-session to make sure her kids have a plate of pasta when they come in from school.

Fellow vocalist Alison Moyet, also a Twitter star and also a Mum, responded that this was ‘amazing.’

Then a few weeks back, Tracey revealed that the first 4 EBTG albums are being reissued later in the year with all the usual extras.

I got into them around ‘Idlewild,’ which was a high point in their career, though it’s ‘Missing’ which was a worldwide hit and will no doubt be their albatross forever.

Great song. But it’s a pity really as their back catalogue is full of gems – all graced by Tracey’s excellent vocals, and Ben’s all-round musicianship.

Roll on Christmas.
