Watching items from your record collection, built up over many years, disappear in to the distance in the hands of strangers is an odd feeling.

After my recent cd clear-out, I spent last Saturday at a local cd and vinyl fair, trying to find new homes for hundreds and hundreds of albums that are now safely uploaded onto my iPod – and backed up.

I met some great people, all music lovers and some with particular niche interests.

For instance, one buyer was keenly eye-ing up the tracklisting on a compilation of tracks by Bryn Haworth.

When I asked him if he was a Bryn Haworth fan, he revealed that his interest was specifically in a track from the guitarist’s 1979 ‘Grand Arrival’ album (A & M) – because it featured backing vocals by one of the Everley Brothers.

That’s one of the things that I love about the people who love music.

We’re all fanatics.

Another of my visitors, who warmly praised my collection as ‘the best here,’ was prepared to invest in an album I recommended, presumably on the grounds of my impeccable musical taste.

Much laughter all around.

‘My Enemy’ by sisters Dana and Karen Kletter was released by Rykodisc towards the end of the 90s, and is undoubtedly a lost classic.

Thanks to YouTube, I can point you towards a track, which is pretty typical of the record, several copies of which seem to be available online for a song.

Don’t be put off by the bargain basement prices.

If you can get hold of one, snap it up.

You won’t regret it.

And if you like what you hear, Dana released her first ‘solo album ‘The Fool’s Fool’ (Triple Fool) earlier this year.
