Promoting this blog on Twitter has encouragingly started to generate responses from the artists I write about.

So in the past few weeks, I’ve had tweets from Brinsley Forde and Danny Thompson, swiftly followed by Nona Hendryx.

As I mentioned in the post about Nona’s new album, she was with Labelle when they joined forces on Laura Nyro’s classic ‘Gonna Take A Miracle’ album.

It’s one of 5 Laura records from 1967 to 1976 packaged together as a box set by Sony in their ‘Original Album Classics’ series.

A quick surf around the web shows it’s available at a Christmas-present friendly £10 to £15 depending on where you buy and postage costs.

5 albums for the equivalent of two cinema tickets – two of them bona fide classic ground-breakers – is surely some mistake, but there we are.

Enjoy it before they change their minds.

Her 1970 album ‘Christmas and the Beads of Sweat’ seems an appropriate one to revisit here – just in case you were in any doubt about Ms.Nyro’s merits – featuring as it does the guitar playing of Duane Allman.

1976’s ‘Smile,’ the last album featured in the box set, reunited her with producer Charlie Calello.

‘Money’ and its biting lyrics tell you all you need to know about how she felt the music industry had treated her.
